Old Barker Social News

Can you really blame social media for fake news? No. Social media is a vehicle. Some might say that fake news is a problem of the internet. Anyone can start a website and put up whatever information they see fit, and then people find that information, real or fake, and share it using social media as a tool. Social media might make it easier to perpetuate the fake news, but it isn’t the root problem.

Here’s a good article from the Guardian entitled, Here’s the truth: ‘fake news’ is not social media’s fault. Here’s an excerpt:

“The real problem with new media is the speed with which falsehoods are spread and the difficulty of providing countervailing corrective information.” Click here to read the article.
